A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MADISON RIDGELAND ACADEMY PATRIOTS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE ACADEMY OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Madison Ridgeland Academy Patriots are the 1998 Academy overall champions in basketball; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Ridgeland Academy Patriots finished the season as the No. 1 Academy boys basketball team in the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Ridgeland Academy Patriots finished the season with an outstanding record of 34 wins and only 5 losses; and

WHEREAS, in the championship game the Patriots hammered out a 58-53 victory before a crowd of 3,500 at the A.E. Wood Coliseum; and

WHEREAS, in the tough-fought championship game the Patriots showed the resiliency and tenacity that is the hallmark of championship teams; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend meritorious accomplishments, especially when achieved by the youth of the state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend the Madison Ridgeland Academy Patriots boys basketball team for their outstanding 1998 season and for winning the Academy overall basketball championship.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Madison Ridgeland Academy.
